about

"This is a 'remix of a remake' of a song I wrote and recorded back in 1996 entitled "Rythmic Rhyme." I had re-recorded it over the instrumental version of Brother Ali's Good Lord to perform it at a show only to find out that my friend and fellow artist, B.A. had used the same instrumental to record a version of his song "Hip-Hop Head," with then label mate Ice Haze and Young Royalty Records recording artist J. Gotti. A version of it was tracked in Gotti's studio and released on BOOC Entertainment's "Cook Kane Kitchen vol. 2." Subsequently, Ice had left BOOC Ent. and retired from making music and was not around to perform the song during live shows anymore and I was asked to fill in w/ a shortened version of one of my verses from "Rhythmic Rhyme." As this was a common reoccurrence, I was also asked by BA to fill in for Ice, but this time in the studio when the song was to be re-recorded for BA's mixtape "I Am Who I Am." Though I was reluctant to do so, being that Ice was a good friend of mine and I was fond of his original verse on that song and the fact that this would be the 4th time I had recorded this song I wrote way back in high school, I did accept and the album was released w/ my verse in place of Ice's. Now, as I'm putting out a compilation of collaborative materials from the past year or so, I thought it'd be a great opportunity to release the song as one big mash up of both "Hip-Hop Head" and "Rhythmic Rhyme." I took the 3 different mixes w/ 3 different eq settings, 3 different compression ratios and 2 different tempos to my friend, label mate and boss "T" from The Noose. He took the necessary parts from each mix and matched tempos and pitch, trying to even out the eq's and compression settings as best anyone can do in that situation and cut it all together." -Atafal Wonder
