"S.T.E.P. BROTHERS - The Long and Short of It"
liner notes by Atafal Wonder

-The Short Version-
These are the remnants of a mix tape that was never completed due to technical difficulties as well as familial and other obligations. What we intended to be a brand new 14-track mix tape was all but lost with the exception of 4 unfinished songs and 2 demo mixes. 4 additional songs were included from previous releases to round out the collection and offer up a "complete works" that we hope you will enjoy.

-The Long Version-
One time I met this cocky little prick who wanted to battle me. It was about 7 years ago while I was doing a show with my crew at the time, Fellowship of the Rhyme. That cocky little bastard was who you now know as Ice Haze. Fast forward to just a few years ago when we were both asked to feature on a song for my dude Muhammad's mix tape; Ice as a member of Cold Divinity with my man Righteous Da Mad Author, and me reppin' my team at that time, Blukolar Politiks. Not long after that session, we had become pretty good friends.
Some time after, I gladly accepted an offer to come home and officially join my family at Noose Productions. Around the time when Cold Divinity was dissolving their musical partnership, Ice was planning to work on a solo project and align himself with an organization that would both motivate him and let him grow as an artist. I ended up tracking and mixing all but two of the songs for it and was featured on a couple verses. The record was "Deal Wit It," and it was released through B.O.O.C. Entertainment.
During the recording of that, or maybe even prior, we talked about lampooning Ice Cube and Dr. Dre's "Natural Born Killers," with a parody entitled "Natural Born Haters." It was written(though never recorded) as a satire about the apparent plague of misanthropy that seemed to be taking over music at the time. That lead to talks of an entire collaborative album that you ought to be listening to parts of right now. Moving on...
The album was three fourths finished when my hard drive crashed and everything was gone, aside from one demo version I had on another drive and the rough mix of a song we recorded at The Library. Given the circumstances, I was able to work out a deal between my team at Noose Productions and our friends at B.O.O.C. Entertainment to rerecord what we lost and finish the record. To the project's detriment, our schedules grew more hectic with work schedules, other music projects and familial obligations. we never got back into the studio to finish. Then, it seemed our window of opportunity to complete the record had long since closed. What we had hoped would be the greatest mockery of ego driven music ever was now just a partially realized ambition. We had no choice but to move on.
In the interest of salvaging the project we began, as well as commemorating a fun time in our lives, we put together what you have before you now So even though the mixes are rough, some of the songs aren't exactly finished, and we threw in a couple songs you might have heard before... we think that you'll enjoy this collection of tunes from the S.hit T.alking E.gotistical P.rick Brothers. And if not... Hey fuck you, it's a free mix tape anyway! Come over here and "DEAL WIT DEEZ NUTS!" Hahahahaha!

THANK YOUS -
Ice Haze and Atafal Wonder would like to thank everybody that supported this project whether it be those who enabled us two pricks to record our combination of satire and irreverent humor, or the 5 people that actually wanted to hear this record. Thanks to our wives who used the time they had to regain their sanity while we were out recording these songs. Thanks to Noose Productions, B.O.O.C. Entertainment, Jesse at Q-Wav Matrix, Teddy B, Mo the Messenger, Da Mad Author, J.Gotti, Serious Matters, the artists we jacked the beats from(we never stole a beat from a song we didn't like), coffee, Monster, Doritos, gas station hot dogs, Ray's Family Restaurant, Kettle One, Miller Lite, Icehouse, Murphy's, Guinness, Corona, Bud Light and hydroponic marijuana for all your facilitation of and/or inspiration during the making of this record.

Lyrics and concepts by Atafal Wonder and Ice Haze except where noted.

"What's in a Name," "Top That," "Incredible," "Incredible(alternate drunken mix)," and "Blood in the Water" were tracked and mixed by Mr. Black of B.O.O.C. Entertainment at The Library with At Won of Noose Productions hanging over his shoulder like the pain in the ass he is.

"Right Here," "Opposite Day," and "What's In a Name(vodka & kool-aid demo version),"were tracked and mixed by At Won of Noose Productions at Al's Kitchen.

"Gusto" was tracked and mixed by Jesse at Q-Wave Matrix.

At Won's vocals on "Rhythmic Rhyme" were tracked and mixed by T from The Noose for Noose Productions at D2. Ice Haze's vocals were tracked and mixed by John Gotti in his studio. BA and Gotti's vocals were tracked and mixed by Mr. Black at The Library for B.O.O.C. Entertainment. The components of this song being taken from 2 different songs, 3 different mixes from 3 different studios and two different tempos, were painstakingly cut and blended together to give you this ridiculously long extended remix of Atafal's original song "Rhythmic Rhyme" from "The Myriad Vision LP." For compare and contrast, locate and listen to:
"Rhythmic Rhyme" from "The Myriad Vision LP" by MPL.ONE(Atafal Wonder)
"Good Lord" from "The Truth Is Here" by Brother Ali
"Rythmic Rhyme(Good Lord Remix) from "The Deathly Gallows" by Atafal Wonder
"Hip-Hop Head" on "Cook Kane Kitchen" by BA, Ice Haze and J. Gotti and
"Hip-Hop Head" on "I Am Who I Am" by B.A, Gotti and Atafal Wonder.
